[This is about ten minutes after he'd forwarded the completed Google Maps program to Ghost; it's an image file, a map of the area around the scout's base camp. Drawing it using the blackglass' drawing app, he tried to make it as accurate as possible, both with his own mapping information and the others'. Obviously, it's a first work, so it's nothing to write home about, but good draftsmanship does carry over--his lines are very neat.]
I didn't exactly do a lot of drawing on paper, back home. The device is just more natural to me, even if the interface is a bit simplistic.
[Hala was pretty deforested--most of its wild trees were preserved, while those in the cities were carefully tended to. Writing and drawing was done, like here, mostly on datapads.]

I made a map.

good it was needed....
If I get lost do I get to blame you?

Alina, if you manage somehow to get lost using the map we made for all of you--you only have yourself to blame.

I am a brilliant map reader, I'll have you know.
FROM: starkov.alina@cdc.org
This is really good, though, for doing it on a device.

Paper is stranger to you?! [ This is horrifying to her. Learning on the device has been a struggle. ]
FROM: starkov.alina@cdc.org
I have some. And some paint. If you want to borrow it. We can practice together sometime.

Well it wasn't as if we could just keep cutting down trees when we had other means. It would have been wasteful.
FROM: varr.noh@cdc.org
I look forward to it. You still owe me blueprints.

We do. But we don't have an alternative.

After this mission. I'll hold you to it.
FROM: starkov.alina@cdc.org
Blueprints are hard. Imagination takes more time.

Excuses, excuses. You'll find a way.
FROM: varr.noh@cdc.org
I won't keep you, though. I'm sure you have plenty of other things to worry about, right now.
[Like getting up to where you need to be, for one.]

Probably a good idea. Will check in if I fall of a cliff because of your map.
several hours later
It's a puzzle. The mission is a puzzle.

FROM: varr.noh@cdc.org
Do you need assistance?

FROM: starkov.alina@cdc.org
I need a better clue. There's about 2,000 pieces that all look pretty much the same.
I don't understand this mission.

Most of the time there really isn't much to understand. What do they look like?
